Description

The massive marble mask weighs about 13kg and is most likely depicting the face of the sea god Oceanus with its eyes, nostrils, and mouth open. Historians aren’t quite certain what the original purpose of the disc was, but it is speculated that it was probably used as a drain cover, meaning it could rain inside.
